FAQs

What is an apprenticeship?

Apprenticeships are an excellent way of gaining qualifications and workplace experience. As an employee, you can earn as you learn and you can gain practical skills from the workplace.

Do I get paid?

Yes, you will get paid an annual salary directly into your bank account on a monthly basis.

What does it involve?

Our sports apprenticeships include the following components: a minimum of 16 hours per week paid employment, a knowledge-based element, a competence-based element, transferable key skills, and a module on employment rights and responsibilities.

How long does it take?

The length of an apprenticeship varies depending on prior skill levels of the apprentice and the qualification being obtained. Generally our apprenticeships last between one and two years.

Do I get holidays?

Yes, you will get 20 days paid holiday, plus bank holidays.

Will an apprenticeship give me a good career?

Career progression is excellent for apprentices and, over the course of their careers, those with apprenticeships earn, on average, £100,000 more than those without (source: A Cost-Benefit Analysis and Other Vocational Qualifications, University of Sheffield, 2007).  There will be many opportunities within the sports industry and Ignite Sport UK are available for apprentices upon completion. Having been trained in a variety of sections within the company, apprentices will be ideally placed to secure full-time roles.

When can I start?

Our sports apprenticeships normally start during the summer, but other start times throughout the year are sometimes available.  Please contact us to find out the next available start.
