Ignite Sport > News and Blogs > Students visit Hill End

To celebrate the end of term, a group of students who attend across our Ignite Sport and Velocity Football programmes enjoyed a special residential trip to Hill End, an Outdoor Education Centre in Cumnor, Oxford.

Ryan Hairsine, Hannah Bladen and Kyle Bestley led a two-night residential with our Alternative Provision students, who engaged in a range of fun activities including a survival challenge.

Other activities included den-building, fire lighting and orienteering, with all students getting stuck into challenges in an environment which sits outside their day-to-day surroundings, of Oxford City Football Club.

Students were also given the opportunity to spend some time independently exploring the 62 acres of woodland Hill End has to offer. Other activities included rounders, frisbee, football and cooking for themselves.

There was even a special visit on night two from wider Ignite Sport group colleagues who were invited to a BBQ and an evening of boardgames. Despite the weather, there was a great turnout and a good time was had by all.

We asked students afterwards what their favourite activities were, to which they said:

· Den building

· Fire lighting

· Enjoying time outdoors

· Spending time with their friends

Overall, a very successful trip for our very successful students!

Everyone at Ignite Sport would like to thank Charlie from Hill End for delivering the survival session – it was great to see how much students enjoyed themselves in a safe and supportive environment.
