Pre Academy is the stepping stone in development ahead of playing Junior Premier League (JPL) Football representing Oxford City FC. The aim is to prepare players to play Academy football by replicating the coaching syllabus and methods used. To support this effectively, employed, professional Oxford City FC & Ignite Sport coaches deliver the coaching in the Pre Academy. Players also receive regular reviews and a structured syllabus.
Players are able to continue playing for their grassroots teams whilst attending our pre academy. Many of our Pre-Academy players play for teams across Oxfordshire and attend these sessions too, these sessions are not soley for Oxford City FC players. The training should be seen as additional and developmental and not in replacement of a current team. Should the player continue into a JPL Squad, the games do not conflict with Sunday Junior/Youth football therefore many of our players represent two teams.
Our Pre Academy is for U8/U9/U10 boys and girls. Training takes place on Thursdays 7:00pm-8:00pm on 3G pitches at Oxford City FC (OX3 0NQ)
How are players selected? Our coaches will invite players via their parents to a series of trial sessions for the pre academy. Our coaching team reguarly observe development centres and our junior and youth teams to enable this process, in additon to this our coaches who work within schools will signpost a teacher/parent to encourage the player to join trial sessions. Parents/guardians from outside of Oxford City FC and Ignite are also welcome to contact us for a conversation regarding trial sessions (contact details below)
Is there a cost? Yes. There is a monthly cost or you can opt to pay for the season up front with a discount. Kit is also required to be purchased for training and friendlies. Players also receive a 1:1 training session with one of our qualified football coaches as part of their membership.
