A bumper Easter holiday multi-sport camp has been confirmed by Ignite Sport UK following the Government’s announcement of the country’s roadmap to exit COVID-19 restrictions.

Hosted at Oxford City Football Club, the registered training provider will welcome a limited number of children to its COVID-19 safe Easter holiday camp that is designed for four-to-14-year old’s.

Between Tuesday, April 6, and Friday, April 16, three camps will be hosted – Multisport, Girls Only Football and Football Skills. All sessions will be delivered by Ignite Sport UK’s
qualified and experienced coaching team that have completed training in pandemic awareness, social distancing practices and anxiety in children during COVID-19.

Activities including football, dance, yoga and Olympic themed challenges will help children develop key skills such as communication, teamwork and helping them to overcome challenges.

The camps will prove particularly special for everyone involved as this Easter marks 22 years since Ignite Sport UK delivered its first school holiday camp following its formation in 1999.

Hannah Bladen, General Manager at Ignite Sport UK, said her team of coaches are looking forward to welcoming children back to Oxford City FC following the successful delivery of February’s half term’s virtual holiday camp via Zoom.

She added: “The latest lockdown has been particularly tough for many young people across the country as the weather turned cold and evenings darkened quickly, reducing opportunity for everyone to be active.

“Therefore, we were pleased to learn of the Government’s roadmap to exit the pandemic and are excited to be welcoming children of both essential and non-essential workers on site in April. In previous years, our Easter camps have been particularly popular among young people and I would encourage all parents to book on as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.”

Although the rate of COVID-19 infections is decreasing, Ignite Sport UK will ensure the safety of children and their families remains of paramount importance.

“In the event of new lockdown rulings meaning our Easter holiday camp will not be able to take place, all bookings will be eligible for a full refund or credit,” added Hannah. “In this situation, we will endeavour to communicate at the earliest point possible should closure of cancellation be necessary.

“Safety is our number one priority, which is why all staff are tested twice weekly and have completed a Level 2 award in Infection Prevention, Mitigation and Management.”

Children attending one of Ignite Sport UK’s Easter Holiday Camps are advised to wear trainers or pumps plus clothing that is comfortable to participate in. Football boots and shin pads are essential for players attending football sessions.

Children are also advised to bring a packed lunch and refillable drink. Owing to Ofsted ruling, children aged four can only attend for a maximum of four hours.
