Ignite Sport > News and Blogs > Oxford City FC Junior & Youth Update

Dear parents & guardians,

Please read on for updates and our latest 'What's On' news...

We are pleased to announce of some positive structural changes to our Junior & Youth Management Team.

👏 Firstly, we are pleased to introduce Jack Stanley as our our recently promoted Head of Junior Football who, as part of his role is taking over the management of our Junior (U6 to U10s) Football Programmes, coaches and is on hand for anything that you require outside of what your squad coach deals with. Jack is a full time senior coach and Alternative Provision lead at Ignite Sport & Velocity Football here at the club and brings a wealth of experience.

James Gilmore is soon to depart the club for an exciting role at Chesea FC! We wish James lots of luck, he'll be hugely missed by us and am sure lots of you too.

Jordan Piper in turn is now Head of Transition for our U15 - U19 age groups. A new role that will help our players transition between U16 youth football and potential pathways into our Velocity Football Education Programme and/or senior football.

Aliyah continues as Head of Female Football for all age groups.

Charity update 🫶

A message from our charity trustee, Jamie Murray...

Hi Everyone,

To introduce myself to those who I dont already know, I am Jamie, parent and coach of one of our U11 boys squads, I am also a Trustee for the football club's charity which I'm pleased to announce has been given a fresh new brand - The Hoops Foundation.

The charity has been in existence for several years and plays a significant role, particularly in the junior and youth operations, by providing bursaries to a growing number of players, as the custodian of all the community arena facilities, and in the delivery of programmes such as walking football, Football In Mind Mental Health sessions, and PowerChair Football.

We are very fortunate to have the facilities that we have, which over the years have been secured via grant funding and subsidies. These are more and more challenging to find so we will need to start fundraising campaigns for the maintenance and replacement of facilities and equipment (I'm sure all of you have been frustrated by the condition of some of the goals!) so that we can continue to support the junior and youth set-up, as well as build on more specific programmes to deliver our charitable objectives.

The re-brand launch event will be on Saturday 1st March, as the men's first team takes on Woking in the quarter-finals of the FA Trophy. We would greatly appreciate it if as many of our junior and youth teams could attend and support the event as possible.  As this game is FA Trophy and falls outside of season tickets, all players are invited to attend for just £1with accompanying adults and will be required to wear their kits to create a wave of hoops and enter via The Community Arena doors.

Please take a read of our letter HERE  for full information If anyone has any questions at all or would like to know more about how you can support the charity then please reach out to me directly.

Jamie
