Ignite Sport UK has launched a 12-month Junior Content Producer apprenticeship scheme for sports clubs.
The on-the-job professional training programme helps clubs upskill colleagues or recruit new talent – and create regular content across multiple platforms. The Level Three apprenticeship provides a market leading programme of learning combined with one-to-one tuition and mentoring.
The programme includes training on social media scheduling and management, copy writing, content creation, video production, photography and media. The apprenticeship provides clubs with a cost-effective way to provide opportunities and create regular content to help increase fan engagement and communication.
National apprenticeship training provider Ignite Sport UK have partnered with industry experts Fortitude Communications to help deliver the programme. Fortitude was founded by Greig Box Turnbull, who is the co-owner of Oxford City Stars and a former Daily Mirror journalist and Oxford United managing director. Its team also includes Talk Sport presenter and former Bauer Media editor Thom Airs, award winning sports editor Richard Tilley and former chief sportswriter Shaun Reynolds.
Justin Merritt, CEO of Ignite Sport UK, said: “This is an exciting new apprenticeship training programme that we have added to our portfolio of courses. Producing engaging, professional content is an increasingly important and demanding aspect of any sports club and this programme will help make a difference. The programme is very detailed and is being delivered by a team of experts with relevant industry experience.”
Greig Box Turnbull, MD of Fortitude Communications, said: “We are proud to be supporting Ignite Sport UK in the delivery of this fantastic apprenticeship programme. Content is king and it is now an integral part of professional and semi-professionals clubs operationally. This apprenticeship offers clubs an incredibly cost-effective way of developing staff and generating engaging content. We are looking forward to helping Ignite Sport UK develop the next generation of communications professionals at sports clubs across the UK.”
Apprenticeships are open to people of all ages and are cost effective. Furthermore, there is currently £3,000 worth of government funding available for employers who recruit an apprentice before September 30.
Ignite Sport UK, based at Oxford City FC, is a registered training provider for sport and education qualifications which we deliver nationally. It holds main provider status with the Education & Skills Funding Agency (ESFA).
